At the age of six, I started playing tennis at H.T.C. Santana. I was not a natural in youth but after intensive tennis training and moving to Amstelpark at 21, my ranking rose to 231 in the world rankings and number four in the Dutch rankings. During that time, I won several Future tournaments and played qualifiers at three of the four Grand Slams. Having played at international level myself, I would like to share and my experiences.
At Amstelpark, Leonne is responsible for the Tennis Kids programmes Red, Orange and Green. For the past 35 years, she has been active as a District Tennis Teacher (DTL) and Region Scout North West of the KNLTB, her last season there she was even the only national scout. Leonne was also jointly responsible for setting up the successful Tennis Kids programme, which took Dutch youth tennis to the next level.
Boy Westerhof, opgegroeid in Drenthe, ontwikkelde al op jonge leeftijd een passie voor tennis dankzij zijn familie. Na zijn middelbare school streefde hij naar een professionele tenniscarrière, waarbij hij over de hele wereld deelnam aan prof toernooien. Een blessure dwong hem tot een tijdelijke pauze, waarin hij bij de KNLTB de trainersopleiding volgde. Sindsdien is hij actief als tennisleraar op TC Amstelpark, waar hij zelf ook trainde. Hij leidt de selectie- en fysieke trainingen met als doel spelers te verbeteren in een positieve en hardwerkende groepssfeer. Hoewel hij geen favoriete slag had, was zijn forehand vaak gevreesd door tegenstanders.
In 1992, I started playing tennis at T.C. Lichtenberg (Weert, Limburg). I always trained a lot and played matches until 2002 when I went to the CIOS in Sittard and first encountered teaching tennis. After getting my CIOS degree and tennis coach licences, I started teaching tennis full-time. I have also taken several application courses such as Tenniskids and wheelchair tennis 1. I have been working as a trainer at Amstelpark since 2010.
Ik heb van mijn 7e tot mijn 17e tennis gespeeld in Kroatië. Na een korte pauze, besloot ik op 20-jarige leeftijd terug te keren naar de tenniswereld maar dan als coach. Na verloop van tijd voelde ik de behoefte om nieuwe mensen te ontmoeten en mijn horizon te verbreden. Dit leidde me naar Amstelpark, waar ik nu al 2,5 jaar werk als tennisleraar. Met elke les streef ik ernaar al mijn spelers te helpen hun tennisniveau te verbeteren en de baan met een positieve instelling en een glimlach te verlaten. Een goede sfeer en goed georganiseerde lessen zijn essentieel voor dit succes.
At Tennis Club Amstelpark, everyone is welcome of all levels and all ages. Tennis can be played all year round at our beautiful complex at the Amsterdamse Bos. Ever since its founding in 1986, Amstelpark has been a household name in the tennis world.
